Board & Train is an immersive training program where your dog stays with me for the duration of their individualized program. Each program is built around your dog’s current level of training, your goals and the skills needed to help you move forward together.
Training happens every day your dog is here, through multiple structured sessions, everyday routines and real-life opportunities. Depending on your dog’s program and progress, training may also extend into public places and increasingly challenging environments.
WHAT BOARD & TRAIN ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
Training is more than a few sessions throughout the day.
Your dog’s program is individualized based on their training needs, goals and progress. Multiple structured training sessions take place every day, but training doesn’t stop when those sessions end. Everyday life provides plenty of opportunities to practice skills, reinforce expectations and build better habits.
Structured Training
Multiple focused training sessions take place every day, with skills introduced and progressed based on your dog’s individual program.
Everyday Training
Training is incorporated into everyday routines and activities, giving your dog opportunities to practice their skills outside of formal training sessions.
Real-World Training
When your dog is ready, training may move into public places and more challenging environments where we can work around real-life distractions.
And yes, there’s downtime too.
Board & Train isn’t training every waking minute of the day. Your dog also has time to rest, play, explore, go for walks and simply be a dog. Learning how to settle and relax is just as valuable as learning how to work.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROGRAM
How do I know which Board & Train my dog needs?
The right program and the right length of stay-isn’t determined by your training goals alone. Where your dog is starting and how much of the training progression you want to take on once your dog comes home matter too.
You don’t need to figure this out on your own. We’ll look at all three pieces together to determine the program and length of stay that make the most sense for you and your dog.

Where is your dog starting?
A dog coming in with little or no training needs time to build strong foundations before moving into more advanced work. A dog that already has those foundations can begin further along in the training process.

Where do you want to go?
Your end goal matters. Building basic foundations, developing reliable real-world obedience, and working toward off-leash reliability each require a different level of training and progression.

How much do you want to take on at home?
A shorter stay means you’ll take over earlier in the training process and will have more work to continue at home. A longer stay allows me to handle more of that progression before your dog returns home. Either way, your participation is an important part of maintaining and continuing your dog’s training.
BOARD & TRAIN PROGRAMS

Each Board & Train program has a different purpose, but they aren’t rigid one-size-fits-all packages. Your dog’s starting point, your goals and the amount of training progression you want to take on at home will help determine the best fit and length of stay.
JUMP START FIDO
Foundation Board & Train
2 Weeks | $2,000
Jump Start Fido is designed for dogs of any age who have little to no formal training or who need a stronger foundation before progressing into more advanced work.
The focus of this two-week program is exactly that-the foundation. We’ll introduce and begin building the core skills your dog needs for future training, with an emphasis on clear communication, engagement and learning to work with their handler.

What to expect
The skills introduced during Jump Start Fido will not be considered “finished” at the end of the two weeks-and they aren’t meant to be. The goal is to establish a strong foundation that you can continue building once your dog comes home.
If you’re looking for more advanced obedience, greater reliability around distractions, or a dog who can hold longer stays at a distance, one of the longer Board & Train programs will be a better fit.
Not appropriate for dogs with serious behavioral concerns.
DYNAMIC DOG
Real-World Obedience Board & Train
2-4 Weeks | $1,000/week
Dynamic Dog is for dogs ready to move beyond the foundations and begin building greater reliability in everyday life. Training progresses into more challenging environments, higher levels of distraction, stronger leash skills and more advanced duration and distance work.
This program can be the next step after Jump Start Fido, or it can stand on its own. Dogs coming in with solid foundation skills may need a shorter stay, while dogs starting from scratch will need additional time to build those foundations before progressing into more advanced work.

What to expect:
Dynamic Dog is about taking the skills your dog has learned and making them more useful and reliable in everyday life. Depending on your dog’s starting point and length of stay, training may progress from basic skills at home to working around higher-level distractions and holding longer stays in busy public environments.
The goal isn’t simply for your dog to know the skills-it’s to begin building the reliability needed to use them when and where they actually matter.
Not appropriate for dogs with serious behavioral concerns or owners whose goal is off-leash obedience.
BEYOND THE LEASH
Off-Leash & E-Collar Board & Train
3-6 Weeks | $1,000/week
Beyond the Leash is for owners whose goal is reliable off-leash obedience and greater freedom with their dog. This program builds on the same foundations and real-world skills taught in my other programs, then progresses into e-collar training and off-leash work.
Dogs entering with strong existing obedience may need a shorter stay, while dogs with little or no training will need additional time to build the foundations and reliability necessary before progressing to off-leash work.
What we’ll work on:
E-collar conditioning | Off-leash recall | Off-leash obedience | Increased distance in stays & recalls | Real-world distraction work | Handler focus & engagement | Public training where off-leash dogs are permitted
What to expect:
Off-leash reliability requires more than simply removing the leash. We’ll build on your dog’s existing skills while increasing distance, distractions and expectations, with the goal of creating clear communication and greater reliability when a physical leash is no longer connecting you to your dog.
As with every Board & Train program, continued practice and consistency at home are necessary to maintain and strengthen the training once your dog returns home.
Important:
All off-leash training through Klug K9 Training includes e-collar training. I do not offer off-leash training without an e-collar. Dogs must be at least 6 months old, and individual maturity and readiness will also be considered before beginning e-collar work.
Program not appropriate for young puppies or dogs with serious behavioral concerns.
TURNING POINT
Behavior Modification Board & Train
4-8 Weeks | $4,400-$8,800
Turning Point is designed for dogs with significant behavioral concerns such as dog or human reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, severe fear or anxiety, bite histories and other serious behavior challenges.
Behavior modification goes beyond teaching obedience or stopping an unwanted response. We work to better understand what is driving your dog’s behavior, improve communication and impulse control, and help your dog develop greater tolerance and more appropriate responses around the things they find difficult.
What we’ll work on:

Behavior change takes time.
Behavior modification typically requires more time and work than standard obedience training. Meaningful improvement is absolutely possible, but behavior cannot be guaranteed to change or disappear completely.
Your participation is required.
The work cannot stop when your dog comes home. Everyone living in the home must be willing to follow the training and management plan consistently. If the household isn’t prepared to participate, I will not accept the dog into this program.
Before we make the commitment
Turning Point requires an in-home behavioral evaluation before a Board & Train can be scheduled. This gives me an opportunity to meet you and your dog in their home environment, learn more about the behaviors you’re experiencing , discuss your goals and current management, and determine whether this program is an appropriate fit.
Not every dog or household will be a good candidate for Board & Train, and that’s something we determine together before moving forward.
Management may be lifelong.
Training and management work together. Some management may be temporary, while others may need to remain part of everyday life for the lifetime of the dog in order to maintain safety and success.
REFRESHER TRAINING
For Returning Board & Train Dogs
1+ Weeks | $700/week
Refresher Training is available for returning dogs who have previously completed Dynamic Dog, Beyond the Leash or Turning Point and could use a brush-up on skills they’ve already learned.
This program is designed to refresh and strengthen existing training rather than introduce new skills or progress into a new level of training. If your goals have changed or you’re looking to add new skills, we’ll determine which Board & Train program is the better fit. Dogs who have completed Jump Start Fido only are not eligible for Refresher Training.
OWNER TRAINING
Your dog’s training isn’t just about your dog.
Board & Train gives me the opportunity to do a lot of the heavy lifting, but your dog ultimately comes home to you. For the training to transfer successfully into everyday life, you need to understand how to communicate with your dog, reinforce the skills they’ve learned and maintain the same expectations at home.
That’s why your training begins before your dog’s Board & Train ends.
Before your dog comes home
Before your dog’s stay ends, you’ll work with your dog alongside me. We’ll go over the skills they’ve learned, handling and communication, training equipment, what your dog is ready for and where training still needs to progress.
This gives you an opportunity to practice while I’m there to coach you, answer questions and help you feel prepared to continue the work at home.
After your dog comes home
Every Board & Train includes five follow-up training sessions to help you continue the work once your dog is back home. These sessions can be scheduled weekly or biweekly and give us an opportunity to troubleshoot, fine-tune your handling and continue progressing the training together.
Your first follow-up session must be scheduled within the first three weeks after your dog returns home in order for the remaining four sessions to stay valid. Those first few weeks matter, and addressing questions or challenges early helps keep you and your dog moving in the right direction.
Additional Turning Point support
Turning Point clients also receive 50% off one group class when used within six months of their dog’s return home, provided all five follow-up sessions have been completed or are being used accordingly.
YOUR DOG’S STAY
What life looks like while they’re here.
A place of their own
Every Board & Train dog sleeps inside my home in their own assigned crate. Crates are never shared during a dog’s stay and are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between dogs.
Time to move & play
Dogs have multiple opportunities for outdoor time in fully enclosed dog run, along with supervised play and exercise in my fenced backyard. They’re exercised, played with and given plenty of attention in addition to their daily training.
Everyday life is training too
Daily meals are incorporated into training whenever appropriate, giving us even more opportunities to reinforce skills throughout the day. Safe, appropriate opportunities for social time with another dog may also be provided when it’s a good fit for the individual dogs.
BEFORE YOUR DOG’S STAY
A few important requirements.
To help keep every dog in my care safe and healthy, all Board & Train dogs must meet the following requirements before their scheduled stay. We’ll go over the details during the onboarding process so you know exactly what is needed and when.

Board & Train dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper and Parvovirus vaccinations and must be current on flea and tick preventative. A negative fecal test for giardia and intestinal parasites, performed no more than four weeks before drop-off, is also required.
Dogs showing signs of illness-including coughing, sneezing, vomiting or diarrhea-will need to have their Board & Train stay rescheduled. Females who are in heat will also need to be rescheduled for a time when they are no longer in season.

Dogs must be crate trained before their Board & Train stay, with the exception of young puppies who are still learning.
Please provide enough of your dog’s regular food for the duration of their stay. Daily meals may be incorporated into training throughout the program.
If your dog is raw fed, all food must be prepared and individually packaged into the appropriate portions for each meal before drop-off.

A $200 training equipment package is required for new Board & Train dogs and includes the equipment needed to continue your dog’s training at home. Additional equipment costs apply for Beyond the Leash due to the e-collar. Additional equipment costs may also apply for Turning Point depending on the individual dog’s training and management needs, which may include equipment such as an e-collar or muzzle.

A non-refundable $500 deposit is required when you commit to a Board & Train program and is applied toward the total cost of your dog’s program.
Half of the remaining program balance is due at drop-off, with the final balance due by pickup. Payment is accepted by cash or check only.
GETTING STARTED
Ready to explore Board & Train?
Board & Train is a significant commitment for both you and your dog, so I don’t book programs without getting to know you first. The onboarding process gives us an opportunity to talk through your goals, discuss expectations and determine whether we’re a good fit before either of us makes that commitment.
Step 1: Complete the Board & Train Inquiry Questionnaire
Every Board & Train inquiry starts with the questionnaire. This gives me an opportunity to learn about your dog, their training history, your goals and any behavioral concerns before we determine the appropriate next steps.
Standard Board & Train Programs
For Jump Start Fido, Dynamic Dog and Beyond the Leash, the next step after your questionnaire has been reviewed is an in-person Meet & Greet at my location.
During the Meet & Greet, we’ll review your questionnaire, talk about your training goals, discuss my training style and expectations, and I’ll meet your dog. It’s also an opportunity for us to get to know one another and make sure working together feels like the right fit before moving forward.
Turning Point
For potential Turning Point cases, the next step after your questionnaire has been reviewed is an in-home behavioral evaluation rather than a standard Meet & Greet. This allows me to meet your dog in their hone environment, learn more about the behaviors you’re experiencing and evaluate the training and management needs involved.
After the evaluation, we’ll determine whether Turning Point is an appropriate fit and discuss the next steps.
Once you’re ready to move forward
Once we’ve determined the appropriate program and you’re ready to commit, the non-refundable $500 deposit is due and will be applied toward the total cost of your dog’s Board & Train. From there, we’ll schedule your dog’s stay and you’ll receive the information needed to prepare for drop-off.
Board & Train gives us the time and structure to make meaningful progress, but the real goal is training that carries into everyday life with you. From your dog’s stay through your follow-up sessions, we’ll work together to help you understand the training, continue the progress and make those skills part of everyday life at home.
